When you log in to XING, you need to enter both your registered e-mail address and your password.
Although this makes it difficult to remember, your password should be as difficult as possible to prevent unauthorized third-party access. Here are a few password tips for you:
- Your password should consist of at least 12 random characters and should not be your name. The random characters should be in both upper case and lower case, and you can use spaces and special characters such as *, %, ? and !
- Avoid using passwords that can be guessed or established by learning a little about your person.
- Never share your password with third parties.
- Use separate passwords for each of your online accounts. That way, if one of your accounts does happen to be hacked, it will only affect that particular account.
- Consider using a password manager to store all your passwords in a single place and secure them with a master password. That way, you don’t have to worry about remembering randomly generated passwords.
- Never save e-mail addresses, usernames and passwords in your browser. If the browser you use happens to have a security flaw, it may be possible for third parties to get your data without you knowing.
- Log out of XING after each browsing session to prevent third parties from gaining unauthorized access to your account.
XING also offers you the option to activate two-factor authentication for your account.
