The field portfolio on your XING profile allows you to showcase yourself and your work in texts, images, videos and PDF documents. These are featured as modules, which you can arrange on the page layout as you wish.
You can get started by clicking on "Add something" in your portfolio and then selecting whether you want to add a text, an image, a video or a PDF file. Basic members can upload a maximum of 1 text box and 3 images or PDF files. Premium members can add as many text boxes as they wish, up to 30 images or PDF files, and up to 15 videos.
Uploading, editing, enlarging and reducing images:
You can upload images in JPG, PNG and BMP formats with a file size of up to 5 MB. Click on "Add something" in your profile, then select "Add an image" and choose the image file you wish to upload in the menu that appears. The image will then appear on your screen, and you can use your mouse to crop it as you wish. You also have the option of adding an image caption and description. Then click on "Save". You can move other image modules around simply by holding your mouse down and dragging them to the position you want. When you move over a module with your mouse, an arrow will appear in the top right corner. Click on it and options will appear that let you edit, delete, enlarge or reduce the image module.
Adding texts:
Click on "Add something" in your portfolio and then select "Add text box". You can now enter a header and description. Click on the "i" icon to view the formatting options for your text. Once you have entered your text, click "Save". Text boxes are positioned across the whole width of the portfolio layout. You can hold the mouse down and drag the box up or down to the position you want. When you move over a text box with your mouse, an arrow will appear in the top right corner. Click on it and options will appear that let you edit or delete it.
Uploading videos:
Click on "Add something" in your portfolio and then select "Add video". Now you can enter the URL of a YouTube or Vimeo video that you wish to feature in your portfolio, then add a header and a description if you wish. When you move over the finished video module with your mouse, an arrow will appear in the top right corner. Click on it and options will appear that let you edit, delete, enlarge or reduce the size of the module.
Uploading PDF documents:
Click on "Add something" in your portfolio and then select "Add a PDF" and the file you wish to upload in the menu that appears. You can move existing PDF modules around simply by keeping the mouse pressed down on and dragging them to the position you want. When you move over a module with your mouse, an arrow will appear in the top right corner. Click on it and options will appear that let you delete the module or download the document.
By the way: In the Privacy settings, you can determine who can see your portfolio and whether visitors can see the profile details or the portfolio first. Please note: The portfolio is not visible in the XING Apps or on small smartphone screens.
